About me, or where the hell are you now
Hello, my name is Aleksei Miheev, I am also known as rusty_angel in IRC, ICQ and web forums. Yes, I know, spelling 'Alexei' is more correct, but bureaucracy forces me to spell my name as I spell. If you don't want to read all this stuff and just need to get in touch with me, go to the contacts section.
As for now, I'm mostly interested in search engines (not SEO, no; creating search engines), AJAX, databases and BitTorrent. The work I love most and do better than anything else is optimizing existing slow web-apps.
I've been a computer geek since I was 8, when I got my first ZX Spectrum, I'm a Linux geek since late 1998 (though I completely rejected Windows only six years ago). I'm using PHP and MySQL for 7 years already (was interested in C/C++ before) and work freelance since 2004 when I first did something for money not for fun.
I am a big fan of classic rock, blues and jazz, and I'm happy to be one of the maintainers of Russian rock portal www.rock.ru. There'll be some music-related posts in this blog. The music is always with me, I can't work without it and I don't feel comfortable on the road, when I don't have my mp3 player with me. If you're interested, you may look at my last.fm profile.
I love fine drinks, whether it's alcohol, tea or coffee. I'm a real tea addict and I make an excellent coffee. And yes, I do love beer.
I love cats, and probably there'll be lots of my cat's (named Alex) pics.
I'm not a writer, but sometimes I write some stories (I think, it's more correct to call them pictures), and I'll post some of them under graphomania category.
About my nickname. It doesn't actually mean anything: I'm neither angel nor rusty. I once had to name myself somehow, and I've been listening Black Sabbath's song 'Rusty Angels' at that moment. 'rusty_angel' seemed to be rather unique (I only found two or three inactive people with the same nickname by Google), so I decided to take it.
About the blog title. It doesn't mean anything either. There a bunch of paintings named The Temptation of St. Anthony by Martin Schöngauer, Hieronymus Bosch, Mathias Grünewald and, of course Salvador Dali. There is an album Aqualung by British art-rock band Jethro Tull. There is an album Temptation of Saint Aquarium by Russian rock band Aquarium. The blog title is a combination of all those.
